The automatic backup unit BAR is used for uninterrupted operation of electrochemical protection: if the main station or rectifier fails, the backup installation is activated with the help of the BAR. Automatic redundancy units are also connected when the operational parameters of the main UKZ are exceeded.

The BAR unit is installed in the cathodic protection system, it is a modular complex located inside an IP34 protected metal cabinet. To restrict access, the cabinet doors are limited by two locking mechanisms.
